MOS Japanese brass band: “We Will Definitely Come Back to Italy”

Following their first Italian concert, MOS speak to CZMOS about BrasDance, meeting the Milan audience and an encore they will never forget.
MOS Japanese brass band featuring four musicians and four wind instruments, the Music Omotenashi Sisters have created a performance style in which brass music meets dance. Their language crosses cultural boundaries through sound, movement and live energy.
On 22 July 2026, Erna, Miyu, AMI and Lotta performed in Italy for the first time at La Cattedrale in Cusano Milanino, near Milan.
The concert also marked the beginning of their first European tour, featuring nine performances across Italy and Germany.
With more than two million followers across social media, an appearance in the semifinals of season 18 of America’s Got Talent and numerous performances in Japan and abroad, MOS have transformed their distinctive instrumental lineup into a recognisable identity.
They call it “BrasDance”: an original fusion of brass music, dance and dynamic stage performance. It is a language that does not need lyrics to communicate, allowing each listener to interpret its emotions and messages personally.
In this interview with CZMOS Magazine, the MOS Japanese brass band discusses the meaning behind its music, its relationship with international audiences and the moment Italian fans began singing Sarà perché ti amo to ask for an encore.
MOS Japanese brass band and the Italian debut of BrasDance
Could you introduce MOS to readers discovering you for the first time? What makes your music unique?
We are MOS, an all-female brass group. We are a four-member group performing “BrasDance”, our original fusion of brass instruments and dance. Powered by the energetic sound that only brass can create and by our dynamic live performances, we have built a social media community of more than two million followers. We perform across Japan and internationally on a wide variety of stages, including our own tours, festivals and sporting events.

What feelings or messages do you hope people take home after listening to your music or watching your live performance?
Our music does not have lyrics. However, for each of us, every song carries a specific theme and a message into which we have poured something personal. When people watch our live shows or listen to our music, we are happy if they receive that message freely and interpret it in whichever way feels most meaningful to them.
How was your first performance in Italy? What was your impression of the Italian audience?
The Italian audience cheered for us with incredible energy and warmth from the beginning until the end of the show. They felt so cheerful, lively and powerful.
Was there a particularly memorable moment during your time in Italy?
When the main part of our set ended, the audience began singing an Italian song together to ask us for an encore. We believe it was Sarà perché ti amo. It was the first time we had ever experienced something like that. We were surprised and deeply moved. It was a scene we had never witnessed in Japan.
Do you have a message for your Italian fans? Would you like to return to Italy?
Thank you so much for creating such a wonderful moment with us. Our first performance in Italy has become an unforgettable memory. We promise that we will definitely come back. We will see you again.
Music that communicates beyond words
MOS make music within the space left open by words. Trumpet, trombone and saxophones become narrative instruments, while dance turns each concert into an immediate experience, even for people discovering the group for the first time.
During the Italian debut of the MOS Japanese brass band, this form of communication received a spontaneous response. The audience did not simply watch the performance. Together with MOS, they created one of the defining memories of the group’s first European tour.
The collective singing that began at the end of the concert demonstrates how music can create a dialogue even when people do not share the same language.
On one side were four Japanese musicians expressing their messages through instruments. On the other was an Italian audience responding through a song known across generations.
Their final promise opens the next chapter: a return to Italy that, after this first encounter, already appears to be anticipated by both the musicians and their Italian audience.
