Seven tracks, a title song built around glowing embers and a return to the mini-album format

A flame can become less visible without going out. That image sits at the centre of Still, N.Flying’s ninth Korean mini album, scheduled for release on 8 October 2026 through FNC Entertainment.

The Korean title of its lead single, “잔불”, pronounced janbul, refers to embers or a residual fire: something that appears diminished but retains its heat and may burn again. It is a romantic metaphor, but also a useful way to read the band’s current position. N.Flying no longer need to prove that they are recognisable. The question is how they can use that identity without allowing it to become a formula.

When is N.Flying Still released?

Still will be released on 8 October at 6:00 PM in South Korea, corresponding to 4:00 PM in Bangkok and 11:00 AM in Italy. The seven-track project is the band’s first mini album since Dearest in 2022.

It is not, however, a return after a long absence. It follows their second full-length album Everlasting, released on 28 May 2025, and the digital single 환절기 (換節期), issued in June 2026. After a larger studio album, N.Flying are returning to a compact format in which each song must contribute more precisely to the record’s overall identity.

The release date and ninth-mini-album designation are confirmed by FNC Entertainment and the company’s official physical-edition announcement.

A title track built around glowing embers

According to the album introduction, Still is about what remains despite the passing of time: feelings that are still alive, passions and relationships that change form without disappearing completely.

The title track “잔불 (Still)” began with a real conversation between Lee Seung-hyub and Seo Dong-sung and with the process of looking back at oneself during a period of exhaustion. The ember is therefore not framed as a dying fire, but as the starting point from which a new flame may rise.

N.Flying

FNC describes the song as a rock track driven by a weighty rhythm section and a lyrical guitar riff. Its words imagine a presence that may have become smaller in another person’s heart, while the singer’s own feelings retain their original heat.

An album written from within the band

The credits reveal a strong creative continuity. Lee Seung-hyub participated in writing and composing all seven tracks, while Yoo Hwe-seung also contributed to “나를 사랑하지 않는 너에게 (Wake Up)”.

Still was therefore built largely from within the band. Its identity does not depend solely on a comeback concept, but on the way the members translate experience, relationships and shared memory into songwriting.

The contrast between the two principal voices remains central. Lee Seung-hyub can carry rhythm and narrative through singing and rap-adjacent sections, while Yoo Hwe-seung often takes songs towards more intense melodic peaks. The album will reveal how that dynamic is balanced with guitar, bass and drums.

Our Ending offers the first clue

Still will not arrive with seven entirely unheard songs. “아는 결말 (Our Ending)” was released on 28 September as a pre-release single accompanied by a special clip.

The mid-tempo acoustic pop-rock track combines rhythmic guitar and bass with brass elements. It describes inexperienced and still-secret emotions growing as two people move towards an ending known only to them.

Its youthful lightness, softened by a bittersweet tone, introduces the album’s interest in emotional persistence without fully revealing the sound of the title track. It appears sixth in the sequence, immediately before the closing song “Fading Away”.

The tracklist of N.Flying Still

1. 잔불 (Still) — title track

2. 고생했어 (My Dearest)

3. 나를 사랑하지 않는 너에게 (Wake Up)

4. 어쩌면 가장 서툰 내가 좋았어 (The Way We Were)

5. 홍실 (Hongsil)

6. 아는 결말 (Our Ending)

7. 우주먼지 (Fading Away)

The titles move between endurance, care, separation, memory and disappearance. “My Dearest” also echoes the title of the group’s previous mini album, suggesting at least a possible connection with their 2022 release.

The final two tracks may be especially significant. “Our Ending” leads into “Fading Away”, a title suggesting gradual disappearance. Only the complete album will reveal whether this sequence creates a clear conclusion or deliberately leaves something unresolved.

What to listen for on N.Flying Still

The central question is not whether N.Flying have preserved their identity, but how they intend to develop it. The title track will need to show whether the image of an ember also becomes a musical decision through tension, pauses and crescendos rather than remaining only a lyrical metaphor.

N.Flying

“Wake Up” will be notable for Yoo Hwe-seung’s creative involvement, while “Hongsil” remains the most enigmatic title on the tracklist. “The Way We Were” appears likely to provide one of the record’s clearest encounters with memory and the past.

The instrumental role of the band will matter too. For a group whose reputation has been shaped significantly through live performance, the songs should not only work through headphones. They need room to expand and create dialogue between the members on stage.

Not a reinvention, but a test of continuity

Still is not presented as a break from what N.Flying have been. Its concept is explicitly built around what remains.

That does not necessarily mean choosing immobility. An ember preserves fire without keeping it in the same form. It may slowly disappear, or it may generate a new flame.

After the larger scale of Everlasting, N.Flying return with seven tracks and one essential image: something has survived the passing of time. From 8 October, listeners will discover whether Still merely protects it or allows it to burn again.
