“Watching Darkness Fall (A Bruce Sketch)”
New Single – June 2025
Official Music Video Out Now
Just over a year after the release of Talkin' Ugly Truth, Tellin' Pretty Lies, Bruce Sudano returns with a powerful and heartfelt new track: Watching Darkness Fall (A Bruce Sketch), released in June 2025 as a preview of his upcoming album due this fall.
The song was written in Milan, where Bruce currently lives and works. But his eyes are firmly set on his home country—the United States—observing from afar with deep concern. The track is a response to the alarming political and social atmosphere back home, where the government’s attempts to suppress protest and dissent are being met with outrage.
“As Americans, we have both the right and the responsibility to raise our voices in defense of democracy and the freedoms our Constitution promises. We cannot let the powerful silence or intimidate us. That would be un-American,”
This is a song born in a time that the artist defines as “dark” for all of humanity—a time when we’re collectively failing. To reinforce the message, the single’s cover features a photo taken by Bruce himself, visually capturing the sense of looming darkness.
Watching Darkness Fall is part of a larger body of work—an album composed entirely of “sketches,” as the subtitle suggests. These are musical reflections written in his Milan studio: intimate, distant from the U.S. in kilometers but deeply tied to its emotional and political pulse. For Bruce, denouncing what’s happening is both a moral duty and an artistic necessity.

Now accompanying the single is the official music video, directed by Amy Waters. In it, Bruce takes center stage, singing raw and exposed, fueled by both anger and sorrow. No frills, no distractions—just Sudano, unfiltered and present.
The video opens and closes with quotes from two prominent Italian figures: Sandro Pertini and Pietro Calamandrei, reinforcing the themes of freedom and democracy embedded in the lyrics. It’s a bold, honest visual representation of a song that demands to be heard.
Bruce Sudano’s career began at the age of 13 with his first band and has since spanned several iconic projects—from The Silent Souls and Doctors We’re Not, to The Fifth Prophecy, Alive N Kickin’, and the chart-topping Brooklyn Dreams.
Beyond performing, Bruce has earned global recognition as a songwriter, penning hits for Donna Summer, Dolly Parton, Reba McEntire, and Michael & Jermaine Jackson.
With Watching Darkness Fall, Sudano proves once again that music can—and must—be a tool for awareness, resistance, and truth.
