SILVIA BRINDISI AND HER STORIES: WRITING AS A WAY OF LISTENING TO THE WORLD

For Silvia Brindisi, writing begins with a simple but radical urge: to communicate, to tell stories, to turn what she observes into emotions that stay with the reader. She doesn’t chase fixed themes; she lets reality guide her — encounters, fragments, the things we pass by without noticing. She writes at night, with music, when the world finally quiets down.
Her first book, Amicizie magiche (2015), gathers eight illustrated tales built around what keeps us human: sharing, empathy, friendship. In 2016 she published Chi parla poco ha gli occhi che fanno rumore, set in Rome: a story shaped by her direct observations of homelessness, and by the belief that “a random encounter can truly change your life.” For Silvia, that’s not just a line — it’s something she has lived.
The voice behind the pages
What pushed you to start writing, and which themes feel closest to your identity as an author?
“I started writing because I wanted to communicate and share stories and emotions, hoping to spark curiosity and reflection. I don’t work with fixed themes: I take inspiration from what surrounds me and try never to be banal.”
Your second book speaks about encounters that change lives. Is this rooted in personal experience or in daily observations?
“The story comes from many observations and reflections I had while walking around the city and seeing the reality of homeless people. I truly believe nothing happens by chance — it happened to me that a casual encounter changed my life.”
How do you imagine the future of your writing? Any new projects in mind?
“I’ve already started a few projects. I won’t say anything for good luck, but I hope to publish them. It’s better to try than to live with regret.”
